Assurance and Verification practitioners' guide 2018

Assurance and Verification practitioners' guide 2018

This document, updated in line with the European Offshore Directive, advises on what you need to know about regulatory requirements of UK offshore Assurance and Verification, and how to benefit from proactively managing Major Hazards.

The guidance aims to improve the understanding of:

  • Major Accident Hazards (MAHs), Major Environmental Incidents (MEIs), Safety and Environmental Critical Elements (SECEs) and Performance Standards.
  • The Assurance and Verification processes
  • The role and function of the Verifier

The Assurance process is what the duty holders does to confirm SECEs are, and remain suitable throughout each phase of the installation’s lifecycle. The Assurance process is checked by an Independent and Competent Person (ICP), known as the Verifier through a process called Verification.
