Marine Transfer of Personnel

Marine Transfer of Personnel

The preferred method for transporting people offshore in the North Sea is by helicopter. However, there have been several occasions when this method of transportation has not been available, usually at short notice. These guidelines have been produced to allow a systematic process for identifying if and how the marine transfers of offshore personnel can be safely undertaken, either by basket transfer or by bridge link.

These guidelines provide flow diagrams, risk assessments, minimum vessel technical speculations, breifing packs and general advice which will facilitate a standardised process for the transportation of personnel to and from offshore locations. This download includes Crane Transfer and Walk to Work Factsheet.

Summary: If helicopters are not available to transfer offshore personnel, then these guidelines will allow you to decide if and how this could be done safely by a vessel.
